Winter protection

Winter protection

The fluid system and tank section are fully insulated for winter protection, and optional anti-freeze heater systems are available, including a coupling heater in the basket to protect against freezing. The optional steam generator efficiently removes ice from aircraft hatch and piping.

Vestergaard’s WSUs and VTS’ have been delivered to customers world-wide, ranging from very hot (Abu Dhabi, Tanzania) to extremely cold stations characterized by very cold climatic conditions (Northern Norway, Canada, Russia), and especially the very cold conditions require special solutions for ensuring full operational status on all systems, and the fluid system in particular, to prevent f.ex. stoppages from freezing water. In addition to using rugged standard chassis, and enclosing the tank sections – including valves – in insulated covering, winter protection features may include:

Electrical stand-by heating for water systems and chassis
Interior view of machinery with pipes, hoses, and a fan, showing a complex arrangement of components.
Electrical connection box with a red outlet and a digital display, mounted on a metallic surface with a hinged door.
Fuel-burning heater
Autronic device with black casing and connected pipes, situated among various machinery components.
Electrical coupling heaters
Mechanical component with a silver cylindrical body, attached hoses, and a red handle, likely part of a larger system.

For VTS: Additional glycol tank (for mixing disinfectant fluid with glycol)

For WSU: Collection tank for drained water (alternative to dumping water on the apron, causing slippery conditions for the ground crew and equipment)
