Brynjolfur “Billi” Vestergaard, Sales Director with Vestergaard Company, has lost his life in a tragic accident that occurred outside his own home on Friday night.
Billi was involved in the family owned business since he was a child. He started as an employee with Vestergaard Company in 1980 in the production and ended as an active part of both the company’s management and sales department.
Billi’s vast knowledge of both Vestergaard company’s products, technology and – not least – the needs of all of the individual, international customers build him a unique reputation in the business.
As Billi would want Vestergaard Company will continue to operate, as a professional manufacturer and supplier of Ground Support Equipment to all our customers worldwide.
Billi leaves behind his wife, four children and three grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed.

Vestergaard Company is pleased to announce the FAA approval of the In-truck manufacturing (ITM) of Type I deicing fluids for operation.
United Airlines in Chicago O’Hare, has partnered with Vestergaard to test the in-truck blending technology on two (2) of their Elephant® Beta deicers during the winter seasons 2014/2015 and 2015/2016. The FAA has been onsite reviewing data to further discussion on industry implementation in North America and has now approved the ITM for operation from the 2016/2017 winter season with United Airlines at Chicago O’Hare airport.
Brock Crocker, Business Manager for Vestergaard Company North America is quoted as saying ”We value our long term partnership with United Airlines and are thankful they see the multiple benefits this technology can bring to their major hub operations.”
The Vestergaard ITM technology allows for the on board manufacturing of Type I fluid. Using additive packs and propylene glycol to blend the Type I fluid directly on the truck instead of buying already mixed Type I fluid airlines increase their flexibility in purchases. Airlines will no longer depend on deliveries of Type I fluid from a limited number of suppliers that may be delayed due to weather and logistics during snow events. All required items to mix the Type I fluid on the truck can be purchased in advance and kept on site. Mixing on the truck using individually stored components also prolongs the shelf life and reduces needs for storage capacity (as already mixed Type I fluid also contains water). The in-truck mixing system also increases quality control as well as benefitting the environment with a major reduction in CO2 footprint.
Using the ITM technology Vestergaard estimates up to 30% overall possible saving for airlines.
Vestergaard’s philosophy is to always continue to evolve and search for new technology and innovation, and to lead the industry with a focus on exceeding customer expectations. The new ITM technology is yet another example of this philosophy to continuously challenge traditional industry solutions.

New developments to always further improve existing solutions is a big part of the Vestergaard Company philosophy.
At the inter airport Europe 2015 Vestergaard are presenting two new developments that will both soon be available to customers: The DTS dashboard and the new de-icing training simulator.
The DTS (Data Transmission System) has been offered by Vestergaard for 25 years, tracking data related to deicing operations such as time, aircraft, location, fluid consumption, fluid temperatures, weather, operator, refractive index values, and truck performance.
The new Vestergaard DTS Dashboard benefits the system users by giving them an easier overview of all the data collected and making the data available in various graphs and tables.
The graphical overview of data in the DTS Dashboard provides live views of Key Performance Indicators. Managers, owners, supervisors, and other stakeholders can quickly check on the figures that they mostly want to monitor without having to ask for reports and details. The system also enables drill-down functions, so further analysis of a certain set of numbers can be made. The Dashboard can be used for easy reporting of key figures and results to various stakeholders, but also to help analyze the collected data to e.g. optimize operations and predict required maintenance and service.
The first version of the DTS Dashboard will be available as an extra feature in the existing PC-based DTS system, but an App for mobile media is planned.
The Elephant® Beta de-icing simulator is a state-of-the-art PC-based training tool. It enables operators as well as trainees to simulate most aspects of aircraft de-icing in a lifelike environment.
The new and improved software for the Vestergaard simulator now gives a real time view of what an operation would look like and the water simulation looks 100% authentic giving the trainee a perfect feel of what de-icing in an Elephant® Beta will be like.
In 2016 an option will be made available to ad Ocolus Rift virtual reality glasses to the simulator.
Demonstrations of both the DTS dashboard and the new simulator – including the Ocolus Rift virtual reality glasses – will be made at the inter airport Europe exhibition.

Vestergaard’s Elephant® Beta de-icers have been chosen by Menzies Aviation for their new operation in Copenhagen Airport, where Menzies will be the airport’s third deicing provider. Menzies will operate on one of the remote platforms in Copenhagen and their main customer is the second-largest airline in Copenhagen, Norwegian.
“It is a whole new setup in Copenhagen, so it was important for us to invest in equipment that we can rely on to live up to both ours and our customers’ expectations”, says Miguel Gomez Sjunasson, VP Menzies Scandinavia. In Arlanda, Stockholm, Menzies have also expanded their operation with a new Elephant® Beta.
Menzies’ choice of the Elephant® Beta for their operations has been based on a desire to make the best possible investment in both safety, maximum reliability and operational efficiency combined with a desire to minimize the amount of glycol spent in deicing and reducing the impacts on the environment.
Menzies have bought two new Elephant® Beta’s for the Copenhagen Operation and one new for Stockholm. Menzies already operate Vestergaard equipment in both Gothenburg, Romania, The Czech Republic and Hungary.

Vestergaard Company is proud to announce the award of the order for six new Elephant® MY de-icers to Japan Airlines.
“We are very pleased that Japan Airlines has once again chosen Vestergaard Company as the provider of the new aircraft de-icers”, says Anders Larsen, General Manager, Technical Sales with Vestergaard Company. “Japan Airlines was our launch customer when we entered the Japanese market in 1990 and we are very happy to have a continued good cooperation with Japan Airlines and with the customers in the Japanese market in general.”
With the newest order for the six Elephant® MY de-icers Vestergaard Company has now sold more than 200 de-icers to the Japanese market.
The Elephant® MY de-icer provides the customer with a highly efficient, but yet relatively compact, extremely reliable deicer, which can be configured exactly to meet specific requirements, for example in terms of work height, tank capacity, tank configuration, heating system, one-man operation and many other operational features. Elephant® Beta de-icers is now available in version 2.0. The PPS constantly helps ensure the correct, optimal distance between nozzle and aircraft, hence improving safety, reducing workload for the operator and at the same time saving on both fluid use and time spent during the operation. Typically, use of the PPS can help increase total savings up to 20-30%.
Vestergaard’s PPS works with proximity sensors at the end of the telescope on the Elephant® Beta. On the touch screen, the operator selects the desired distance to aircraft and the system then maintains that distance throughout the deicing process. The operator then mainly has to concentrate on removing any contamination.
The version 2.0 of the PPS is improved with radar sensors in three dimensions. This allows the operator to let the nozzle follow wings, winglets and fuselage with same fixed distance. Another new PPS function locks the nozzle to either the leading edge or the trailing edge of the wing, so the operator only has to move the telescope left or right. The PPS maintains the nozzle at the edge. With the new improvements, the PPS 2.0 automates two out of three usual telescope moves for the operator and helps ease the job of the operator while at the same time improving safety and the risk of collision with the aircraft.
Vestergaard Company has always been at the forefront of innovative solutions within deicing helping clients to save both money and fluid and minimize the impacts on the environment. The PPS 2.0 further ads to Vestergaard’s series of innovations to help clients optimize their de-icing operations.
At the inter airport Europe 2015 trade show in Munich it will be possible to get a live demonstration of the PPS 2.0.

Vestergaard Company Ltd., based in Nongkham,Thailand, has delivered a new VTS unit to Bangkok Airways Public Co., Ltd., Koh Samui.
The airport on Koh Samui was opened in April 1989 and offers direct flights between the island and Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, Krabi, Pattaya, Phuket and Singapore.
Before the sale Vestergaard Company gave BKK Airways the opportunity to operate a demonstration VTS unit for two weeks. Operators were excited with the unit and stated that “The Vestergaard VTS unit is very easy to operate” and “Time to service an aircraft was significantly shorter than the 20 minutes that was used with the former- non-Vestergaard – equipment”.
Another feature, that was very important to BKK Airways in the decision to invest in a Vestergaard VTS, was the quality of the components (vacuum pump, stainless tank, service hose, coupling etc.) which they consider “The best available”.
Vestergaard Company Ltd. delivered the new VTS unit on Koh Samui end of December 2014. After a two day January training of the local staff by Vestergaard Company’s country manager, the unit is now fully operational.
The Vestergaard VTS will be used to serviceA319 and ATR-72 at Samui International Airport
For Vestergaard Company the sale was the first of a locally produced VTS to the Thai market. The sale became a reality through a good cooperation with Vestergaard’s local agent in Thailand, AVIATEC Ltd.
