Telescopic aircraft deicer spray boom
The telescopic spray boom on the Elephant® BETA/BETA-15 aircraft deicer has been redesigned to provide a nozzle spraying at a height of 21 m (68′) / 25 m (81′). The new design features an enforced and more rigid construction of the boom with a 60° lifting angle and a new slewing gear arrangement. Apart from an extended vertical reach, the new version also provides more firmly defined boom movements with less slack.
The new slewing gear arrangement uses the stronger slack-free cyclo gear and has an internal slide coupling that minimizes the potential structural peak stresses produced e.g. when an emergency stop is activated.
